Media Art Histories

(course for Artscience, 2009/10/11)
taught together with Edwin van der Heide and Taco Stolk.

Media Art is a very broad term that serves as an umbrella for many forms of art that all use technology in some way, but which can have widely diverging artistic agenda’s. This course intends to give an overview of developments in the last fifty years by presenting a number of parallel histories, told by four teachers who approach this field from very different backgrounds. Subjects covered will include the emergence of electronic music, computer art, video art, conceptual art, environments, the open work, sound art and interactive art.
